New members are always welcome to share their love of singing. Sight- reading is an advantage but not required.
Cór Mhaigh Eo was established in 1994. Under the direction of Dr Brian Lennon, the choir sings a wide repertoire of sacred and secular choral music ranging from the 16th century compositions of Byrd, Victoria and Monteverdi right through to contemporary composers such as Whitacre, Lauridsen and Dubra.
Beside a busy local schedule of performances at masses and concerts, the choir participates at International Choral Festivals with great success and also enjoys travelling and performing abroad, having visited Scotland, Latvia, Italy, Spain and Monaco. The choir was part of the 120-strong Peace Choir in the Concert For Peace, Knock 2016, part of The Armed Man performance at the NCH in February 2017 with the RTE Concert Orchestra and both performances of Messiah in Knock in 2017 and 2018. The choir travelled to Pesaro, home of Rossini, May 2018 where they gave a joint concert with local choir “Coro San Carlo”
Rehearsals take place every Thursday 8-10pm. The choir performs a varied repertoire, mostly a cappella, ranging from early music to contemporary pieces, including a selection of spirituals and folk music.
