Cór Mhaigh Eo was established in 1994. Under the direction of Dr Brian Lennon, the choir sings a wide repertoire of sacred and secular choral music ranging from the 16th century compositions of Byrd, Victoria and Monteverdi right through to contemporary composers such as Whitacre, Lauridsen and Dubra.
Beside a busy local schedule of performances at masses and concerts, the choir participates at International Choral Festivals with great success and also enjoys travelling and performing abroad, having visited Scotland, Latvia, Italy, Spain and Monaco. The choir was part of the 120-strong Peace Choir in the Concert For Peace, Knock 2016, part of The Armed Man performance at the NCH in February 2017 with the RTE Concert Orchestra and both performances of Messiah in Knock in 2017 and 2018. The choir travelled to Pesaro, home of Rossini, May 2018 where they gave a joint concert with local choir “Coro San Carlo”
GRACENOTES is a female choir established in 1999 and is based in Ballyhaunis, Mayo with over 30 singers drawn from the locality and surrounding counties.
Rehearsals take place every Thursday 8-10pm. The choir performs a varied repertoire, mostly a cappella, ranging from early music to contemporary pieces, including a selection of spirituals and folk music. The choir has won numerous awards at festivals in Cork, Derry, Mayo, Limerick, Navan and Sligo, and also takes part in concerts for various charities. The group also really enjoys touring abroad and has performed in Italy, Hungary, Czech Republic, Spain, Poland, France and most recently in England. New members are always welcome, especially at start of term in September or January, just contact us if interested! The choir is conducted by Laura Brogan, one of the founding members.
Louisburgh Voices is a mixed-voice adult choir, rehearsing weekly in Louisburgh Hall. The choir sing a wide range of music, has performed in Ballintubber Abbey, taken part in the Mayo International Choral Festival, and presented Purcell's 'Dido and Aeneas' in Louisburgh.
Mayo Chamber Choir (formally Ballina Chamber Choir) was formed in 2011. Under the direction of Felicity McElroy the choir performs a wide variety of music including a cappella part songs (Sacred and Secular), Jazz and Classics.
The multi-award winning choir enjoys participating in Choral Festivals with great success. The choir was part of the 120-strong choir in the Concert for Peace, Knock Basilica 2016, the Armed Man performance at the NCH and Handel's Messiah, Knock Basilica 2017 and 2018, all with the RTE Concert Orchestra. The choir hosts three concerts each year in Ballins Arts Centre and Ballintubber Abbey.
We are a four part Male Voice Choir set up in 2000. Our membership is drawn from many areas of Mayo. We rehearse weekly in Music West in Castlebar which is a purpose-built facility to assist with music and song practice. Our repertoire is varied from contemporary , Irish, ballads to songs from the musicals
We are a SATB community choir based in Ballina, Co. Mayo. Currently we have 47 members (male and female). We meet for 2 hours per week on Wednesday night and we hold a Spring Concert and 'Carols by Candlelight' Concert at Christmas.
Rejoice Gospel Choir was established in 1999 and continues performing successfully at festivals and events nationally and internationally, receiving awards and accolades along the way.
With over 30 members Rejoice has raised funds for many worthy causes in Ireland and Romania where the choir purchased land to build homes for young adolescents.
As part of ‘Heroes For Hospice’ Rejoice performed in several musicals staged by founding director Lavinia Gilmartin, to sell out audiences in Ireland and UK.
Rejoice has featured on various radio and television shows, and whilst our music is fundamentally Gospel both traditional and contemporary, we also perform Celtic, Classical, jazz and pop.
Our current musical director is Amanda Goonan, Amanda has been a soloist with Rejoice for fifteen years and has won awards in Ireland and the US for her vocal abilitiy.
The choir can be heard singing at 12.00 mass in St. Patrick’s church fortnightly.
We are a casual pop up choir meeting once a month (ish). We learn a new song each session and sing it! Each event is standalone and as the song is new each time, anyone can join at any stage. You just buy a ticket and show up. Singing for fun is the order of the day and we don't take ourselves too seriously. We don't do any performances, we just record the finished product at the end of the night for posterity!
Westport Town Hall Community Choir was established in 2019. The choir gives members of the Westport community an opportunity to sing popular songs together, perform at events and travel. Our goal is to enhance the health and well being of members and the wider community through singing.
