Choirs and Singing in the Age of COVID-19

'At the start of the pandemic, there was much concern that singing, particularly choral singing, could be a major risk in the transmission of COVID-19, as was reported widely in the press. As a result, there has been much caution in the process of reopening our choirs. Before the pandemic, there had been little study into the production of aerosols with regard to singing, and in the past few months studies have taken place, the most significant of which is the PERFORM trial on behalf of the British government. We are honored to welcome Declan Costello of the PERFORM trial to this webinar. Mr Costello is a Consultant Ear, Nose & Throat Surgeon and professional singer and he will explain the findings of the study. Our panel will explore how an evidence based return to choral singing might look, and how best to assess and mitigate potential risks of returning.'
