Offaly Westmeath - Singfest

SINGFEST is a festival of singing developed by MGOW in partnership with Sing Ireland & Irish Youth Choir and supported by funding from the Music Generation / Arts Council Partnership.

Singfest aims to provide singers of ALL ages with the opportunity to work with leading choral professionals right here in the Midlands.

SINGFEST Children's & Youth Choirs

  • YOUTH CHOIR - For singers aged 13 - 18 who are building towards being members of a four part choir. This choir offers girls and boys (whose voice is/has changed) the opportunity to join a small ensemble that will challenge and extend musical experience and achievement.
  • YOUNG VOICES - Perfect for singers aged from 8 - 12 ready to take their first steps in part singing. This choir aims to provide girls and boys with the opportunity to learn more about vocal technique, extend musical skill and experience singing in harmony
  • EXPLORERS - Just for young singers aged from 6 - 8 years old looking for a fun introduction to group singing. Sessions are jam-packed with songs and music games , all the time laying strong foundations for good vocal health and musical understanding.

Big Sings

The Singfest BIG SINGS are exclusive to MGOW's partner primary schools who participate in a singing based programme. Over the course of the year, MGOW musicians integrate all of the required preparation into their weekly sessions - it's easily done because the BIG SING is an opportunity for for everyone to put all of their learning into practice through a series of workshops before the 300+ voice choir comes together for an exhilarating BIG SING!

The young musicians spend the whole day working alongside professional musicians including the SINGFEST team of conductors & vocal coaches, a live band, and our former Artistic Director and internationally renowned conductor Greg Beardsell.

Building on the success of our primary BIG SING Days in 2018 we rang Big Sings for secondary schools.

SingOUT! gives secondary schools with choirs and without, a chance to take part in a range of workshops culminating in a group sing - all under the expert guidance of our very own artistic director Greg Beardsell.

Louth

Young Voices is a singing initiative developed by MG Louth in partnership with Sing Ireland.

Young Voices aims to create high quality, enriching, enjoyable and age appropriate opportunities for young people to sing together, and for singing to become part of their lives.

It aims to support Louth post primary schools in the development of extracurricular singing groups/choirs so as to build strong and inclusive in-school communities of young singers both within the school and outside school contexts. High quality support and training is provided for Music Generation Louth musicians so as to build the capacity of the musician team to effectively carry out such work.
