West Wicklow Voices (WWV) is an adult community choir in existence for seven years under the musical directorship of Conor O'Reilly. WWV selects pieces mostly from the classical repertoire and the weekly rehearsals culminate in concerts at Christmas and midsummer.
Galway Choral Association (GCA) was formed in 1998, initially as a boys’ choir. The choir is now a mixed adult choir offering amateur singers of varying ability the opportunity to come together, develop their musical and singing abilities and perform the works of the great masters. The choir rehearses weekly from September to May and aims to perform 2 concerts each year.
Many of the choir’s concerts have been themed as fundraisers for charitable organisations and, over the years, funds have been raised for many local and national charities, most recently Irish Red Cross supporting Ukrainian refugees.
The Association actively supports other local musical groups and international choirs by inviting them to perform with GCA at our concerts. Joint concert performances have included choirs from USA, Norway, France, Netherlands, Germany, UK and Luxembourg.
The Musical Director of the choir is Norman Duffy who has served in this role since 2009.
Dolce is a mixed-voice choir, of over 60 members, now rehearsing in Raheny, Dublin 5, on Thursday evenings from 7.15pm (tenors and basses) or 8pm (sopranos and altos) until 10pm. Positivity, community and musical excellence are the 3 core values of the choir, and the atmosphere at rehearsals promotes and reflects these ideals. The music sung is an eclectic mix of choral favourites, modern arrangements of popular and traditional music from various cultures along with modern choral compositions. Dolce has travelled abroad to Bilbao, Bonn, Bratislava and looks forward to more trips following COVID. Singing in small groups in wooded areas of a local public park, Dolce succeeded in staying together throughout the COVID lockdowns but members are delighted to be rehearsing normally again. Dolce has won many prizes in choral festivals and competitions throughout Ireland.
