The Skerries Sea Sharps are seeking a Musical Director

Applications are invited for the position of musical director from suitably qualified candidates.

The position commences in September 2019.

The Choir:

The Skerries Sea Sharps is a four part (SATB), mixed, adult choir based in Skerries, County Dublin. Entry to the choir is on an audition basis. In recent years the choir has had some success in choral festivals and hosts two concerts per year.


The applicant is required to have a formal education in music and experience working with choral music, choirs or musicians. Piano playing is desirable, but not essential for the role. The choir will have an accompanist for concerts and to support some rehearsals.

Job Description Position of Musical Director

Duties will include:

 Setting the choir programme and repertoire for the year

 Leading weekly rehearsals during school term time (currently

Wednesday 8-10pm in Skerries Community Centre)

 Conducting the choir at all events

Additional Information:

 The choir has a pro-active committee who will support the musical

director in delivering the choir programme.

 The choir operates to a set of guidelines agreed by the members. A

copy of the guidelines can be provided on request.

Remuneration: Rate to be agreed.
