Musical Director Opportunity

Cantairí Óga Átha Cliath - a Female-Voice Choir - is seeking a Musical Director.

Founded in 1960, Cantairí Óga Átha Cliath (The Young Dublin Singers ) is based in Rathmines, Dublin 6 and rehearses on Wednesday evenings.

The successful applicant will have experience of choral direction and a record of achievement as a musical director. They will have evidence of accomplished musicianship, and ability to show initiative in the preparation of a programme of musical events. The successful candidate will work closely with the members to enhance the repertoire with new and challenging music. Proficiency as a pianist is desirable.

About Cantairí Óga Átha Cliath

Cantairí Óga Átha Cliath is an international award-winning female voice choir, based in Rathmines, Dublin. The choir sings a varied repertoire spanning Renaissance polyphony to Contemporary music and arrangements, and takes particular joy in the performance of Irish-composed music.

Founded in 1960 by Proinsias O Ceallaigh, the choir enjoyed huge success over many decades under the baton of the late Brian O Dubhghaill, travelling extensively throughout Europe, performing and winning awards in many international competitions, both at home and abroad.

Bernie Sherlock conducted the choir from 2015 to 2018, during which time the choir were 1st prize winners at the Sligo and Mayo International Choral Festivals, Navan Choral festival, and Feis Ceoil. Brian Dungan conducted the choir since 2018. In 2019, at the 3rd International Choral Festival of Aveiro, Portugal, the choir was awarded the festival Grand Prix, as well as 1st prize in the Female Voice competition and second prize in the Sacred Music competition.
