SureSkills Resource Placement are seeking to recruit a Temporary Music & Opera Support Manager for placement in The Arts Council of Ireland. This is a full-time, temporary role on a short-term contract via SureSkills Resource Placement until end December 2024.

The successful candidate will support the development of music institutions at a national level and oversee a dedicated team delivering various projects within a specialist area. This team is responsible for policy formulation, development initiatives, funding and relationship management.

Working closely with the Head of Music & Opera, the role will manage funding application assessments across a number of schemes, implementation of post-grant processes & monitoring, support on the delivery of key initiatives, core deliverables and contribute to the design and smooth management of cross-functional projects.

This role is aligned with the public sector pay scales and will be paid at point 1 of the Higher Executive Officer (HEO) pay scale.

  • Actively contribute to the delivery of strategic organisational goals.
  • Lead on key project initiatives whilst coaching and supporting individuals where required.
  • Take responsibility for and hold accountability for the delivery of agreed objectives.
  • Successfully manage a range of projects and work activities to ensure deliverables are met.
  • Delegate effectively to the wider team.
  • Practice and promote a strong focus on service delivery.
  • Contribute to strategic decision making and team direction, where required.
  • Establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure timely and clear decisions on important issues are made.
  • Support in policy development & implementation.
  • Oversee funding/grant application assessments.
  • Work closely with advisors to deliver clear funding recommendations and rationale.
  • Establish and/or develop funding relationships with various stakeholders.
  • Work closely with other Support Managers and Department Heads on cross-departmental project initiatives to ensure efficient delivery of objectives.


  • Minimum 5 year’ relevant professional experience within Performing Arts, specifically in Music.
  • Academically strong, ideally with a primary degree and/or post-graduate or professional qualification.
  • Demonstrable commitment to the development of Music in Ireland.
  • Understanding of the policy environment for institute development.
  • Understanding of key strategic issues relevant to arts development.
  • Ability to critically analyse and think analytically.
  • Excellent ability to work as part of and drive an effective team.
  • Experience in managing funding and/or client relationships.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven experience in team management.
  • Experience working in an international environment is desirable.
  • Full, clean driving licence is desirable.
  • Fluency in the Irish language is also desirable.
