Come and Sing The Mouthful Way...

Join Sharon Durant and Katherine Zeserson for a dynamic, enjoyable and creative singing workshop!

Sharon and Katherine are two of the founding members of Mouthful, an innovative UK-based a cappella quartet. Mouthful has been leading participatory singing projects in the UK for over 15 years, working with people of all ages on creating, learning and performing all kinds of vocal music in vibrant, inclusive community celebrations.

In this workshop, Sharon and Katherine will teach a variety of harmony songs, rounds and short pieces through which participants will be able to explore breathing, range and other aspects of vocal technique, have fun trying out some movement with singing and extend their choral ensemble skills. The workshop is open to singers of all levels - from absolute beginners to highly experienced choristers.

Sharon Durant is a freelance vocal teacher, performer and song writer. She directs a number of community choirs with different ‘flavours’ including gospel, rock and pop, Americana and world song. She composes and arranges, as well as running Big Singing Days and other one-off choir workshops in a variety of genres. Sharon teaches singing and music schools across the North East of England and is a lead trainer for the British Council supported World Voice programme helping teachers across the world - including in Burkina Faso, Colombia, Brazil and Senegal - to use singing in the classroom. Her song ‘Chinese Proverb’ has been recorded by Sweet Honey in the Rock for their children’s album ‘Experience….101’.

Katherine Zeserson is a free-lance facilitator, singer, choir leader, composer, improviser and strategic thinker with 40 years experience in community music, music education and arts leadership. She has a particular interest in a cappella music and singing for all; having worked extensively in the UK, Europe and Brazil with vocal leaders and musicians on inclusive practice, creative pedagogy and improvisation. She currently holds strategic advisory roles with Music Generation Ireland, European Concert Halls Organisation, Royal Opera House (UK), Snape Maltings (UK); and in São Paulo, Brazil with Santa Marcelina Cultura; as well running a one to one coaching practice. She is a co-founder and Chair of the Board of Sing Up Ltd.
