Sing Ireland appoints Dr. Jenny O'Connor-Madsen as Artistic & Operations Manager

Dr Jenny O'Connor-Madsen takes up the role of Artistic and Operations Manager at Sing Ireland. This new role is an important full-time role in the executive staffing team.

This is a significant appointment for Sing Ireland as the organisation realises ambitious growth and development plans in the coming years. Jenny will work with artists and stakeholders to build programmes and projects that fulfill Sing Ireland's mission to positively enhance people's lives through singing.

Jenny O’Connor-Madsen is a music educator, facilitator and project manager. She holds a BA (Hons), an MA and a PhD in musicology from Maynooth University. Her doctoral thesis, completed in 2010, explored the role of women and music in nineteenth-century Dublin. She is the founder and organiser of the Women and Music in Ireland Conference series and has contributed to numerous RTE Lyric FM documentaries on the subject. Jenny is co-editing a volume on the subject with Dr Laura Watson and Dr Ita Beausang, which will be published with Boydell and Brewer.

In 2013, she became the project manager for the RIAM Teaching Network, the Royal Irish Academy of Music’s online music education platform and from 2014 - 2018 she held the post of Senior Examiner for the RIAM local Centre exams. She became the Music Development Officer for Music Generation Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown in March 2018 and moved to the role of LMEP support manager with Music Generation National Development Office in January 2020. In 2021, Jenny was selected as a Cohort Member for the 2022 Global Leaders Program.
