The Irish Youth Choir, under Artistic Director Dr Bernie Sherlock, are inviting applications for an IYC Conductor in Training for their Summer Residential Course in the University of Limerick from the 11-20 August 2022. The duration of this IYC Conductor in Training post will be for the duration of the residential course, and any preparation time for repertoire that is required in order to fulfill the role.
The successful candidate will play a full part in all IYC activities as a singer with the choir and will also prepare selected scores as a conductor. There will be an opportunity to conduct the IYC in one piece in public performances. Other opportunities may arise to give additional support and training to singers during the residential course.
This mentoring opportunity is open to musicians in the early stages of their conducting career who have had experience of training and conducting choirs. Candidates should be aged 35 years or under in 2022. Interested conductors should submit a letter of application, along with a CV outlining their musical background and conducting experience to date by email to email@example.com. The deadline for applications is Monday, 25 July and the successful applicant will be informed by Friday, 29 July 2022. Please note, all applications must be available to attend IYC for the duration of the course in August 2022. Attendance at IYC and meals and accommodation are provided for the successful applicant.
