IYC Repertoire 2024

The Irish Youth Choir and conductor Bernie Sherlock are looking forward to presenting …in the place just right….

In her piece “To be free”, with words from the well-known Shaker hymn “Simple Gifts,” the American composer Karen Siegel says that the place just right expresses “gratitude for our communities… emphasizing the importance of showing kindness to the newly arrived stranger.” In the IYC’s beautiful programme there are glimpses of the place just right everywhere you look, whether the music is lively or reflective, whether old —by Palestrina or Monteverdi — or very, very new — with world premieres of IYC commissions by David Coonan and Laura Sheils — and whether in classic style or coloured with pop or improv.

In the place just right …
