Carlo Pavese

Carlo Pavese (b. 1971) is a musician from Turin, where he graduated in choral music and composition at the G. Verdi Conservatory of Turin. He further cultivated his interest in contemporary choral music under the mentorship of Gary Graden, in Stockholm. He also attended masterclasses by E. Ericson, T. Kaljuste, F. Bernius, R. Rasmussen and studied piano and conducting.

Carlo founded and conducted Coro 900 of Turin, the vocal ensemble siryn of Stockholm, the Torino Vocalensemble, and conducted the Coro Giovanile Italiano for the three-year period 2017-2019. He is currently director of Coro G, founded in 2003, and since 2005 artistic director of the Piccoli Cantori Association of Turin, its children's choir, youth choir and music school. He teaches Choral Practise at the Conservatorio Buzzolla in Adria.

Carlo Pavese performs concerts all over Italy and across Europe both with his own choirs and as guest conductor. He’s frequently invited to give lectures in choral conducting, interpretation and choral improvisation and to lead choral ateliers.

He has directed chamber opera productions at the Piccolo Regio in Turin and the Teatro Comunale in Bologna. He is a composer and arranger of choral music. He was artistic director of the Europa Cantat festival (Turin, 2012) and other choral events, and is currently artistic director of the Feniarco Festival di Primavera. He was vice president and from 2018 to 2021 president of the European Choral Association.
